A.I. Bookcovers

When it comes to artificial intelligence in the creative community, people seem to have strong opinions one way or another.

And I get that. As an author, I would never, ever use A.I. for anything related to writing (I like my imperfect, weird brain as it is). That said, as I wait and wait for the cover for my upcoming novel, Max Takes the Mall, I figured, why not have some fun.

Now again, I'm a fan of creatives. Of art. I would rather a human design the cover for my book. But.... maybe just a peek?

Sure, why not.

Now, here's a quick blurb of Max Takes the Mall, coming in December:

The Breakfast Club meets Mallrats

It’s 1996 and 19 year-old Max Miller needs a place to crash, a new car, and a miracle to win back his college girlfriend. So when he lands a spot in the King of the Mall contest, where four contestants have to live in castles made of soda cans, he goes from slacker townie to local celebrity overnight. But if there’s one thing he knows how to do well, it’s how to mess up a good thing.

Fun, right? At least, I hope you think so. Anyway, with that in mind, a quick Google search led me to a site called Vondy. I put in the title, my name, and then for description, I simply typed in some keywords such as nineties, mall, food court, neon, Pepsi cans, camcorder.

That was it. Then I hit generate.

And I was blown away.

I was using a free version, so some of the covers came with some sort of jibberish. And some, like these two, were hilarious.

Nope
I don't think so

Others, though, were surprisingly good. To me at least.
Here are my favorites:

I really like this one.

There were many, many more. And I won't say it's not addicting. I kind of want to see what it generates for all my books. But I have new books to write, so for now, back to the grind.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
